Pairc na Realta from the drive The house is built on a hillside with mountains behind and fine views to the sea in front. There is a central courtyard behind the house, and a large slate terrace for barbecues and outside eating to the side. Natural stone has been used extensively both in the house construction, and the terraced garden.

Rossbeigh looking over towards Dingle The nearest small beach is about a kilometre from the house. Ross is a five minute drive away, and is a sandy spit extending about 4 km in to Dingle Bay. It is a wonderful beach with safe swimming for children. There is also a smaller safe beach at Kells Bay, approximately 15 minutes away.
Sunset over the bay from the terrace In winter there can be fierce Atlantic storms roaring in, but the house has withstood them well for thirty years. Double glazing throughout the living area, newly installed cavity wall insulation, recently renewed central heating, and a good turf (peat) fire keep us cosy even on the worst nights. In summer the weather is changeable, but very often the sun bursts through before night time to provide amazing sunsets.
And occasionally in the early morning a mist covers the bay and the hills across the water BACK TO TOP OF PAGE |
