The following link is a good starting point for places to visit
http://www.heritageireland.ie/en/South-West/ Of those listed we would particularly recommend:
Derrynane House, (home of one of the greatest Irish patriots and statesmen, Daniel O'Connell)
Ross Castle - you can combine this with a boating trip on the lakes of Killarney
Muckross House and Gardens - you can combine this with a trip in a "jaunting car". This is a pony and trap with a driver. We recommend that you take the jaunting car from close to the house, not from the centre of Killarney.
Skellig Michael. This is a couple of hours each way on a small boat and you should chose a fine day for it with as little wind as possible. Boats go from Portmagee and Valentia

Monks' beehive cells at the top of Skellig Michael
Gallarus Oratory. You can combine this with a full day trip to the Blasket Islands whilst you are there. The boat trip is about 30 minutes, and goes from Dunquin. The Slea Head drive (western most point of Europe) is very beautiful.
Gallarus Oratory
Slea Head We also recommend that you go right round the Ring of Kerry by car.

Ladies View Killarney
Children like a visit to Crag Cave, not just for the underground wonders, but also for the playground with giant slides and other attractions.
